Tall Ship Lynx
2026 Down Rigging Appeal
Goal, for a $40,000 matching donation

The Lynx is forgoing revenue typically earned during the winter sailing season to conduct downrigging maintenance in St. Simons, GA. This is elective work to be carried out ahead of America’s 250th cruise, and will address important projects for the ship before resuming sailing on April 3.

During maintenance, the Lynx's bow spirit was removed for the first time since the Lynx launched 25 years ago.

"That is the level of inspection we wanted, and we feel the way the ship is managed reflects the expectation of our donors," said Captain Donald Peacock. "Knowing their unique treasure is being used in that spirit, trusted stewardship is given."

Donation Funded Projects

  • A new 12’ inflatable boat with a 25 HP Yamaha motor

  • All new sails

  • A dual charger, inverter, and transformers

  • New AIS Class A vessel tracking system

  • Rigging worth $15,000

  • A new galley stove and oven

  • Galley soul

  • New awning

  • Computers and technology

By electively forgoing the typical income from winter sailing, many of the Lynx's expenses were not relieved this year, and with the maintenance projects, there are additional expenses for project materials, cranes, and other necessary provisions.

"We have been very selective in our outreach. We hope our alignment and care for the ship, leading up to America’s 250, and commitment to the next 25 years finds you in supportive agreement," Peacock said. "Donating to maintenance is not an easy ask, so consider your donation to ensure this National Treasure, Lynx, stays on your horizon, coming home, or sliding to her next port, without tremendous effort and generous support, those vistas will go away, and she is gone."
